From the time I received that letter of acceptance from Northern Illinois University stating that they would retain me as a student, I knew that my excitement to go back to college would only be met by the challenge of proving to the university that I had what it took to be a successful college student. My writing class with Mr. Stalcup was no exception to this challenge, for it taught me valuable lessons in writing ranging from layout formats to paragraph organization. This portfolio will not only show how I have developed in my writing, but also how I have developed as a student of Northern Illinois University. I will first introduce the assignments I did during my time in Mr. Stalcup's writing class, and briefly explain how these specific assignments helped further my knowledge in writing. I will then present two of my best pieces of work I did throughout the course and explain how these papers represent the many aspects that make up a great paper. After explaining how these papers represent my best work, I will then explain how this course has prepared me for other courses, or future jobs that will require me to write essays. I will give examples of how the discussions during class, as well as the class assignments have helped to prepare me for future writing. |
